Three-time winner, walking into the Hall of Fame (TAT) – the Best RecreationResort along the Nakhon Chaisri River in Nakhon Pathom (famed for the tallest Buddhist pagoda) – about 2 hours drive from Bangkok, is a complete experience into the insight of Thai culture with a display of a medley of Thai rural lifestyle displayed during performances of traditional ceremonial Dances – attired in ancient Siamese dresses, Thai Wedding, Muay Thai (kick boxing), arts and craft workshops including silk weaving, Thai art of umbrella painting, pottery making, khon-mask making, doll making, the Thai art of fruit carving and garland making. Thai food Cooking Class is also a favorite activity at the Resort. The show concludes in the garden interaction with the elephants and picture taking opportunity, while hugging the elephant.
A model of Thai village with cows is staged around the area that display different style of typical Thai houses from the North as well as the South of the kingdom. On the weekends, a traditional Thai market is set up behind the Cultural Show complex, which sells products from the farm to support the local farmer community.
If you are not staying within the resort complex, you can take a half day tour with a local tour operator in Bangkok – however, it is highly recommended to spend 3 nights/ 4 days at the Resort premises to take in wholly a cherishing experience and know the concept of organic farming and Thai village lifestyle.
The Resort has a complete organic kitchen, which offers an inspiring menu at its three dining outlets: Inn Chan (named after a local legend) a’la carte Restaurant, Rim Nam Restaurant and the All-day dining (starting with Breakfast at 6AM) in the main hotel building. At breakfast, there is a good variety of juices derived fresh from organic fruits grown at the Resort’s farm, and almost every edible organic including herbal tea variety – except for the coffee.
On the other side of the River, a visit to the farm, with certified organic herbal garden, opens the door of knowledge on the awareness of how the actual organic food is processed using organic fertilizer and careful farming and maintenance of plants and fruits-vegetables to reach the table fresh with a blessed organic taste.
The Resort has two category of accommodation – one the 8-storied main building with a large pool by the river, and the other: independent Thai style villas along the lakeside. During the recent stay, my spacious all-comfort room in the corner of the 8th floor, which afford a wide-angle view of the Resort complex and the River. The villa makes a perfect abode for honeymooners.
The Resort complex also houses a library, the Spa and caters corporate meeting and activities. An excellent value for money, your holiday experience is enhanced with an insight on Thai culture and first-hand knowledge on what organic farming is all about.
