Rhine Fall Fireworks – Eve of Swiss National Day
A short train ride from Zurich to Shaffhausen, I spent an unforgettable evening experiencing the spectacular firework over the Rhinefall – the largest waterfall in Europe. This has been one of my most delightful sighting of a thing of beauty, lit up at night with burst of colors during the firework.

Early morning I hear the sound of alphorn to mark the National Day festivities. After a hearty breakfast, I walk the old quarters of Schaffhausen to join the celebrations. Later, by noon, I am back on the train to Zurich to join more festivities and parade by Zurich’s Lake area on 01 AUGUST.

Out of the ordinaire’ Sunday Brunch based on world cuisine – there couldn’t be a better treat, a short bus ride from Zurich center. LEUKERBAD, VALAIS
After a pleasant Zurich experience I board the train before 2PM to Leuk and continue the scenic journey on Leukerbad Bus that winds to the wellness village: Leukerbad (Total journey time from Zurich about 3 hours).
Soon after sunset the National Day festivity begins with a parade in traditional regional attire and the big band play national and regional anthems followed with breathtaking firework on the walls of lofty mountains. Main gathering and the best spot to see the fireworks is by the Walliser Alpentherme & Spa at HelioPark Hotel complex.

ALPINA DORA family hotel restaurant is centrally located in an old alley by the Church and has a pleasant mien – a popular place for local and regional cuisines. Sirloins steak (220 gm) is the signature dish, finely sliced and served with morsel, béarnaise, pepper sauce and French fried-beans.
