Gracious invitation extended by the Thai Airways International (Bangkok) allowed me access to Thai Royal Orchid Lounge – a pleasant experience at the airline Lounge with a notable change since my earlier entry back in 2019.

The lounge has transformed into a world-class lavish oasis of comfort and relaxation, internet connectivity, offering a palatable variety of food, snacks, desserts on the buffet table and a’ la carte serving of regional favorites during lunch and dinner time.

Cold drinks freezer is generously loaded with a variety of canned drinks and fruit juices and so is the hot beverage counter with a variety of gourmet tea and a wholesome selection of coffee. The spacious lounge makes a perfect epilog to celebrate final moments before departing the foodie’s capital – Bangkok.

The relaxation and healthy eating before departure enhance comfort before and after the flight so it’s worth it for economy passengers with a layover time of more than 2 hours to buy the ticket to access the Lounge at an affordable price.

The interior is adorned in 50 shades of a stress-free atmosphere, environmentally friendly concept incorporating vertical gardens and no use of plastic. The soothing color scheme is inspired with Thai Airways corporate hues of purple, pink and gold.

The seating arrangement is well paced and at an adequate distance from the buffet tables, which are laid out in more than one section of the lounge, so even if the lounge is crowded, passengers enjoy space and privacy.  Washrooms and shower facility (including wheel-chair accessibility) located along the connecting corridors of the lounge sections, the area is edged with art pieces and hanging gardens.

The buffet table is stocked with appetizing regional choices. Tried and tasted, fresh salad at the salad bar, spring rolls at the snack section. And on the main course: garlic fried rice, stir fried broccoli cooked in garlic with shrimps and kimchi (sauce), sautéed oringi mushrooms with garlic, chicken satay, taro sweet bun, BBQ chicken bun, shrimp dumpling. For desserts, I couldn’t resist variety of cakes, peach pastry, Thai sweets and fresh fruits with last bites of succulent Thailand’s papaya. The A’ La Carte section live cooking served spicy Thai egg noodle soup with shrimps and wonton soup. The buffet table also included assorted sandwiches, mini pizza, sausage rolls and much more.

Located at Concourse D at Level 3 of Suvarnabhumi International Airport Bangkok,

The lounge sprawls an area of 2,410 Square meters and is open for First Class and Business Class passengers. More details: https://www.thaiairways.com/en_ID/experience_my_thai/on_ground/royal_silk_lounge.page

Having visited the lounges of some of the award winning airlines, I would rate the newly refurbished Thai Royal Orchid Lounge fits-in to define a new level of luxury and service that others would hanker to emulate.
