e-Travelers Club travel update – Vol. 111 (3) DESTINATION: Mulegns, Graubuenden

MULEGNS (GRAUBUENDEN), SWITZERLAND

3D WHITE TOWER

The 3D Printed White Tower in the village of Mulegns will be the world’s tallest building of it’s kind. The 30 meters tall building was recently presented to the village by ETH Zurich and the Nova Fundaziun Origen. “A completely digitally printed building that tells of literary heavenly journeys, the homesickness of the Graubünden emigrants and, last but not least, the bold taste of the Mulegns sugar barons,” (Nova Fundaziun Origen)

Located in the canton of Graubuenden, Mulegns boasts scenic wonders in the varied forms of snow-capped mountains, lakes, streams, green flowery meadows, and quaint buildings in the village. Rich in traditions, Mulegns celebrate its cultural heritage through the year during colorful, traditional festivals and musical concerts.

The new tourist attraction, “once completed (schedule to open in June 2024), it will act as a cultural venue and walk-in art installation and performance space before being dismantled after five years”.

“It should also tell the rich cultural history of the place, promote gentle, substantial tourism, bring valuable digital know-how to the mountain canton and save a dying village.”
